H.E. Ambassador of Thailand met with Sri Lanka’s President

                   On 29 May 2015, H.E. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka met with H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. This is the second time in May 2015 when H.E. Nopporn met with the Sri Lankan President.  H.E. Nopporn informed H.E. President Sirisena of big events that the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo would organize to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka.  The “Thai Festival” on 2 September 2015 will comprise cultural performances of Thailand and Sri Lanka, Thai kick boxing show and fruit carving demonstration.  H.E. Nopporn invited H.E. President Sirisena to be the Chief guest of the Thai Festival. 

                   Furthermore, the Thai Post and Sri Lankan Post have agreed to issue joint stamps for this auspicious occasion by choosing the photos of Jetavanaramaya in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka and Prapathom chedi in Nakorn Pathom, Thailand to be printed on the commemorative stamps with the logo of the 60^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

                   A Business Networking reception in early September 2015 will be another event which could increase the connection between Thai businessmen and Sri Lankan businessmen.  H.E. President Sirisena appreciated the activities of the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of diplomatic relations.  H.E. President Sirisena said that he is willing to lend full support to the said activities.  Moreover, H.E. President Sirisena invited Thai investors to invest    in Sri Lanka, especially in agro-business.  H.E. President Sirisena also expressed   his intention that Sri Lanka should buy medicines from Thailand due to the quality of Thai-made medicines.
