of the Kingdom of Thailand’s 66th Birthday Anniversary Celebrations

On the auspicious occasion of the 66th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun of the Kingdom of Thailand on 28 July 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy has organised a series of ceremonies and activities.

From 18 July 2018 onwards, the Royal Thai Embassy invites Thai people in Sri Lanka to sign the book of blessing.

On 28 July 2018, H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka and Maldives, presided over a merit-making ceremony at Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo. The ceremony commenced at 10.20 hrs. with H.E. Mrs. Chulamanee lighted up the oil lamp at the Bodhi tree of the Gangaramaya Temple. This was followed by the congratulatory speech of the Ambassador for His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 66th Birthday Anniversary. Then 9 monks chanted holy stanzas to bless His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. The Ambassador, her spouse, together with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, Team Thailand, Thai community and their families as well as Friends of Thailand, gave food and offering to the monks. Around 40 persons attended the ceremony.

On the same day at 13.00 hrs., the Ambassador presented, as an act of charity to His Majesty the King, necessary items such as alms bowls and cleaning equipment to the monks at Gangaramaya Temple. Then, the Ambassador, her spouse, officials of the Royal Thai Embassy, Team Thailand, Thai people in Sri Lanka as well as Friends of Thailand, proceeded to Simamalakaya at Gangaramaya Temple for community service, which consisted of sweeping the temple grounds and cleaning Buddha Statutes.
