On August 8, 2022, Mr. Poj Harnpol, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, together with staff and family members of the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo participated in the 55th ASEAN Day held at the embassy of the republic of Indonesia in Sri Lanka. The event commenced with a speech by Mrs. Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka followed by a remark by Mrs. Aruni Wijewardane, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, the chief guest of the event. Then, the ASEAN flag was hoisted in celebration of the ASEAN’s 55th founding anniversary (August 8, 1967). The ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony is held to express ASEAN unity and raised awareness about the progress made by ASEAN during the past 55 years.
