The artist traveled to Thailand in 1979 as a UNESCO fellow at Silpakorn University in Bangkok, where he was inspired by both tradidtional and comtemporary Thai art techniques and styles. When the old chancery of the Royal Thai Embassy was revived as 'Siam Nivasa Colombo' in 2022, S.H. Sarath's retrospective exhibition was the most fitting to launch the art space which aims to foster the deep ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
