On 28 June 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organized a presenting ceremony of the royal decoration – the 4^th class of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand (Chatturathaphon Mongkut Thai) – granted by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of the Kingdom of Thailand, for Mr. Mohamed Salih, former Honorary Consul of Thailand in Malé, the Republic of Maldives. The presenting ceremony was organized in honor of Mr. Mohamed Salih to recognize Mr. Salih’s great achievement and honorable services as an Honorary Consul of Thailand to the Maldives from 2 December 2009 to 10 June 2019.

During the past decade, the Honorary Consulate under the leadership of Mr. Salih has rendered great assistance and support to the Thai Government and Thai citizens. At the people level, the Consulate’s altruism and dedication to its work have helped countless Thai people who faced troubles and problems while working or vacationing in the Maldives. In cultural respect, the people-to-people contacts between the two countries have become closer and closer. An increasingly higher exchanges of the two peoples are self-evident. Maldivian tourists visiting Thailand rose from 300 in 2008 to approximately 20,000 in 2017, and the number is likely to grow even more.

At the government level, the Consulate has played a great role in promoting friendship between Thailand and the Maldives. Throughout the past years, numerous official duties and projects carried out by Thai authorities had gone smoothly and successfully thanks to the Consulate’s tremendous support and generous advice.

In recognition of Mr. Salih’s great contribution and noble services to the Kingdom of Thailand and Thai people for almost a decade, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of the Kingdom of Thailand has graciously bestowed upon Mr. Mohamed Salih the royal decoration 4^th class of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand (Chatturathaphon Mongkut Thai). To mark this momentous occasion in Mr. Salih’s honour, the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka, organized the auspicious ceremony to officially present Mr. Salih the aforesaid royal recoration on behalf of the Royal Thai Government. This very special event also gives an opportunity to the Embassy’s officials and distinguished guests and friends of Mr. Salih, to join in extending congratulations to Mr. Mohamed Salih.
