Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Mumbai Office has organized Amazing Thailand Roadshow to Colombo 2013 recently in Colombo on 24^th June, 2013 at Hotel Taj Samudra. The event was presided over by H.E. Poldej Worachat, Royal Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Other distinguished dignitaries include representatives from the Sri Lanka Thailand Friendship Association, trade community, hotels, airlines and a notable singer - Mr.Sohan Weerasinghe participated in the Thai Trade fiesta reaffirming the relationship the two countries share. 

 Participating in the event are 18 companies from Thai Travel Trade, which include 12 travel agents/tour operators, 4 hotels and resorts and 2 entertainment /theme parks and a troop of Thai cultural performers from the Art Association for Youth, Office of National Culture Commission.

Speaking during press briefing, TAT Governor Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni said “out of the foreigners visiting Thailand, 60% were from the Asian region. From the Sri Lankan market, we have seen a steady growth in the number of tourist arrivals to Thailand. During the first five months of this year, there were a total of 29,330 tourist arrivals from Sri Lanka with a significant increase of 8%,” he said. “This year is the third consecutive years that TAT has organized Roadshow in Sri Lanka. The year also marks the 260^th anniversary of the establishment of Siam Nikaya in this holy land.”

He also said that the core theme of the TAT’s 2013action plan would be ‘Higher revenue through Thainess.’

Amazing Thailand Roadshow received an overwhelming response from Sri Lanka travel trade fraternity as well as local media.
