Royal Thai Embassy supports the activities of Sri Lanka-Thailand Society
On 23 January 2015, H.E. Mr. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka, handed over a donation of 197,784.81 Sri Lankan Rupee from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to support the activities of the Sri-Lanka-Thailand Society, to
Mrs. Nirmalie Gunatilake, President of the Society during the Executive Committee’s Meeting.
Sri Lanka – Thailand Society was found in 1997 (B.E.2540) by a group of
Sri Lankan people, who are friends of Thailand. The objective of the Society is to promote the people-to-people contacts between Thailand and Sri Lanka. At present, the Ambassador to Sri Lanka is served as the patron of the Society and there are approximately 180 members, mostly Sri Lankan businessmen and former senior officials. During the past year, the Society has carried out various activities to strengthen Thai – Sri Lankan cultural relations such as the publication of articles on Sri Lanka and Thailand relations in the Sri Lanka – Thailands Society Journal, the publication of article contributed to H.M. the King of Thailand for the celebration of his 87th birth anniversary as well as the religious ceremony to invoke blessings on H.M. the King of Thailand on his 87th birth anniversary.
