The 88th Birth Anniversary of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand

 

                   The Royal Thai Embassy organized a reception on the auspicious occasion of 88th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand on 3rd December 2015 at 19.00-21.00 hrs. at Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo.   Sri Lankan Ministers, high ranking officials and businessmen, diplomatic corps,    Thai nationals who live in Sri Lanka as well as Sri Lankan media representatives around 270 persons joined the reception. 

                      H.E. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka delivered his remarks on His Majesty the King’s work to upgrade the standard of living of Thai people since the first day of His Majesty the King’s accession to the Throne. The tireless dedication of H.M. the King makes the Thai people love and respect H.M. the King as “Father of the Nation”.  Therefore, His Majesty’s birth anniversary becomes the “Father Day” of Thailand.

                     Ambassador Nopporn also mentioned about the official visit to Thailand of H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka on 1-4 November 2015 which further deepened and broadened the existing cordial relationship between the two countries, especially in the fields of agriculture, agro-industry, fisheries, construction pharmaceutical and tourism.

                     Honorable Sarath Amunugama, Special Assignment Minister was the Chief Guest who spoke on the long standing relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka.  Honorable Sarath referred to the official visit to Thailand of H.E. President Sirisena on 1-4 November 2015 and the visit to Sri Lanka of H.E. Wissanu Krea-ngam, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand in mid November this year as significant events promoting the closer relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka.   Honorable Sarath mentioned that there are potentials for both countries to enhance cooperation, especially in trade and investment areas. Honorable Sarath also thanked Thailand for providing technical assistance to Sri Lankan officers.
