The merit making ceremony for H.M. the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand
Deepaduttaramaya Raja Maha Viharaya in collaboration with the Royal
Thai Embassy in Colombo organized the merit making ceremony for His Majesty
the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand on 13 December 2016 at 14.45-16.00 hours.
Honourable Ranil Wickremasinghe, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka attended as
the Chief Guest together with H.E. Nopporn Adchariyavanich, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka. Around 130 participants, including the officials, the Thai community in Colombo and the Sri Lankan people participated in the ceremony.
The senior monks namely, Most Ven. Davuldena Sri Gnanissara Thero (Supreme Mahanayaka of Amarapura Nikaya), Most Ven. Ittapana Dhammalankara Thero, Mahanayaka of the Kotte Sri Kalayani Samagri Dharma Mahasangha Sabha
(Siam Nikaya), Most Ven.Dodampahala Chandrasiri Nayaka Thero, Mahanayaka
of Sri Kalayanawansa (Amarapura Nikaya), Ven. Waskaduwe Mahindawansa,
Chief Incumbent of Dipadttamarama Raja Maha Viharaya including monks totally
24 monks participated in this merit making ceremony.
In this regards,H.E. Nopporn Adchariyavanich saluted and admired His Majesty the late King Bhimibol’s great patronage and works which significantly contributed to the development of the country and the well-being of the Thai people based on Sufficiency Economy philosophy throughout 70 years of the Throne. Honourable Ranil Wickremasinghe respected His Majesty the late King Bhumibol
as a Friend of Sri Lanka who played a significant role in enhancing the relations
between the two countries.
The merit making ceremony ended at 16.00 hours.
