On August 13, 2022, The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo represented by H.E. Mr. Poj Harnpol, Ambassador, and Mr. Peerapat Tongrod, First Secretary, participated in a handout event of the contribution of rice, dry rations and consumer goods from Thai monks and Thai people for 48 Sri Lankan families in need at Sri Gangatilaka Viharaya Narampanawa, Menikhinna District. The event, was blessed by the presence of Venerable Halyale Nanavimala Thera, Abbot of Gangatilaka Viharaya and Professor Ranjith Bandara, an MP and former professor at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). The Ambassador made a remark that Thai government and the Thai people are deeply concerned about tough living conditions of Sri Lankan people and expressed his willingness to work with relevant agencies and the Thai people to provide further support to Sri Lanka in the future. During the event, Professor Bandara, on behalf of Sri Lankan people, noted that the donation event was held to mark the auspicious event of the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. He also expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the individuals and organizations that made this donation happen.
