On 4 May 2025, the representatives of the Royal Thai Embassy has participated in the Thailand–Maldives Business Matching 2025 organized by the Thai Trade Centre in Chennai at Jen Hotel in Malé, Maldives.

H.E. Mr. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, attended and delivered special remarks which highlighted the Maldives’ strategic location in the Indian Ocean and its flourishing tourism sector as a strong foundation for deeper collaboration between Thailand and the Maldives. Ambassador Paitoon encouraged bilateral partnerships in key sectors such as hospitality, tourism, healthcare, and infrastructure, while also pointing to emerging opportunities in renewable energy, eco-friendly innovations, information technology, and education. Sustainability remained a central theme in the discussions.

The event offered a vast opportunity to engage with a wide range of industries, including food & beverage, healthcare, household products, and fresh fruits & vegetables. Thai companies were eager to explore new ventures with their Maldivian counterparts.

In addition to the Business Matching event, the delegation also visited the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), which was established pursuant to a presidential directive in 2001 overseeing city planning and development projects in the islands of Hulhumalé, Gulhifalhu, Thilafushi, Kudagiri, Urban Isle, and Rasmalé. The visit to the HDC covered the urban farming site, industrial area, as well as local market, commercial and residential areas of Hulhumalé. 

The delegation also visited the State Trading Organization (STO) Headquarter, which was established in 1964 as a fully state-funded business with the main task of purchasing and importing essential food items for national distribution and state supply. Today, STO has grouped with its partners and become a national leader in petroleum, cooking gas, building material, healthcare, consumer electronics, supermarket products, insurance, shipping, and bunkering businesses with operations in the Maldives as well as in Singapore.

This visit reflects Thailand’s commitment to strengthening economic ties and fostering sustainable development in the Malidives.

สถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ สนับสนุนการส่งเสริมโอกาสทางธุรกิจระหว่างประเทศไทยกับมัลดีฟส์

เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงโคลัมโบ เข้าร่วมและกล่าวในงานจับคู่ทางธุรกิจระหว่างประเทศไทยกับมัลดีฟส์ 2568 ซึ่งจัดโดยสำนักงานส่งเสริมการค้าในต่างประเทศ ณ เมืองเจนไน วันที่ 4 พฤษภาคม 2568 ที่มัลดีฟส์

ด้วยทำเลที่ตั้งทางยุทธศาสตร์ของมัลดีฟส์ซึ่งเป็นจุดตัดหรือทางแยกของมหาสมุทรอินเดีย และอุตสาหกรรมท่องเที่ยวที่เจริญรุ่งเรืองของมัลดีฟส์ เอกอัครราชทูตได้กล่าวสนับสนุนส่งเสริมความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศไทยกับมัลดีฟส์ ในด้านการต้อนรับ การท่องเที่ยว บริการด้านสุขภาพ และโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน นอกจากนี้ ความสนใจของมัลดีฟส์ที่เพิ่มขึ้นในการสร้างความหลากหลายทางเศรษฐกิจและทางออกที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม พลังงานหมุนเวียน เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ และการศึกษา ยังได้ช่วยสร้างช่องทางสำหรับความเป็นหุ้นส่วนในอนาคตระหว่างกัน โดยมีจุดเน้นร่วมด้านความยั่งยืน

กิจกรรมจับคู่ทางธุรกิจครั้งนี้ได้นำเสนอโอกาสในอุตสาหกรรมที่หลากหลาย อาทิ อาหารและเครื่องดื่ม สุขภาพ ผลิตภัณฑ์ของใช้ในบ้าน ผักสดและผลไม้ ซึ่งบริษัทไทยกระตือรือร้นที่จะสำรวจความร่วมมือใหม่ ๆ ร่วมกับหุ้นส่วนจากมัลดีฟส์

นอกเหนือจากกิจกรรมจับคู่ทางธุรกิจแล้ว เอกอัครราชทูตได้เข้าพบบริษัทพัฒนาที่อยู่อาศัย (Housing Development Corporation: HDC) ซึ่งก่อตั้งขึ้นตามคำสั่งของประธานาธิบดีในปี 2544 ให้เป็นผู้พัฒนาเมือง

ที่เน้นเมืองอัจฉริยะและยั่งยืน โดยดูแลโครงการต่างๆ ในเกาะ 5 เกาะสำคัญของประเทศ ได้แก่ ฮูลูมาเล กุลฮิฟัลฮู ทิลาฟูชิ คูดากิรี เกาะเมือง และราสมาเล การเยี่ยมชมครอบคลุมพื้นที่เกษตรกรรมในเมือง เขตอุตสาหกรรม ตลาดท้องถิ่น เขตพาณิชย์ และเขตที่อยู่อาศัยในฮูลูมาเล่

การเดินทางไปมัลดีฟส์ครั้งนี้สิ้นสุดที่การเยี่ยมชมองค์กรการค้าของรัฐ (State Trading Organization: STO) ซึ่งก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2507 โดยรัฐบาลมัลดีฟส์ และได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจากรัฐทั้งหมด มีภารกิจในการจัดซื้อและนำเข้าสินค้าอาหารที่จำเป็นเพื่อจำหน่ายทั่วประเทศและนำเข้าสินค้าสำหรับรัฐ ปัจจุบัน STO ร่วมกับพันธมิตรเป็นผู้นำทางธุรกิจระดับประเทศในด้านปิโตรเลียม ก๊าซหุงต้ม วัสดุก่อสร้าง การดูแลสุขภาพ อุปกรณ์อิเล็กทรอนิกส์สำหรับผู้บริโภค ผลิตภัณฑ์ซูเปอร์มาร์เก็ต ประกันภัย การขนส่ง และน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิง โดยมีการดำเนินงานและการพัฒนาทั่วทั้งมัลดีฟส์และการดำเนินงานในสิงคโปร์
