The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organizes a Reception in Celebration of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, National Day, and Father’s Day, December 5, 2024
On 3 December 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy organized a reception in celebration of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, National Day and Father’s Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, December 5, 2024.
H.E. Mr. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, delivered remarks honouring His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s legacy and devotion for improving the quality and the well-being of the Thai people and also sharing ways to forge closer relations and cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka.
In addition, Ambassador Mahapannaporn also portrayed that the renowned Thai cuisines, Tom Yum Koong, having received the world’s recognition, was registered in the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 3 December 2024.
On this occasion, Honorable Sunil Handunneththi, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka was the Chief Guest and also delivered remarks on behalf of the Sri Lankan Government.
The reception showcased performances entitled “Rub Kwan Khao” or “Rice Harvest Dance”, which portrays the traditional life of Thai farmers and a few pieces of Thai folk songs by an all-time favourite singer, Mike Phiromphorn. The reception was also featured by food stalls showcasing Thai cuisine, including renowned Tom Yum Koong, Chicken Green Curry, Larp Gai, Som Tum, and Pad Thai.
