World Tipitaka Foundation Donates 80 Volumes of Phonetic Tipiṭaka to Sri Lanka’s National Library

On February 14, 2025, the World Tipitaka Foundation of Thailand presented 80 volumes of the World Sajjhāya Phonetic Tipiṭaka to the National Library of Sri Lanka in a solemn ceremony attended by the venerable Maha Sangha. This distinguished event was organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in collaboration with the National Library of Sri Lanka.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of H.E. Mr. Paitoon Mahapannaporn, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, as well as the Ambassadors of Indonesia and Myanmar. Notable figures in attendance included Most Venerable Phra Dhamvajirayan Sobhon, Ms. Atchara Seriputra, Vice President of the World Tipitaka Foundation of Thailand, and Mr. A.M.P.M.B. Atapattu, Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Suranimala Seneviratne, President of the Dhamma Society of Sri Lanka, and Mr. W. Sunil, Director General of the National Library of Sri Lanka, along with senior officials from both the National Library and the Royal Thai Embassy.

This significant donation highlights the strong cultural and religious ties between Thailand and Sri Lanka, furthering the preservation and dissemination of Buddhist teachings for future generations.
