Legalization Procedure

 

Legalization Service:

  1. The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo only legalizes documents that have been translated to English or Thai, and have been legalized by one of the following authorities:
    1. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sir Lanka
    2. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives
    3. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand

  2. After getting the documents legalized by the mentioned Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the applicant is advised to scan and send the legalized and other relevant documents to the Embassy via email [email protected] for inspection. If the documents are in order, the Embassy will arrange an appointment for the applicant to submit the documents at the Embassy.

  3. The following documents must be submitted at the Embassy:
    1. One Filled application forms (download here)
    2. Original document that needs legalization
    3. Copy of the document that needs legalization
    4. ID card or passport copy of the owner of the document
    5. If the document is submitted on someone's behalf, then the letter of attorney and ID card/ passport copy of the person submitting the document are also required

  4. The Embassy will take 2 working days to complete the legalization process. 

Submission and collection time at the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo:

  1. Submission time is on working days at 09.00 - 12.00 hrs.
  2. Collection time is on working days at 14.00 - 15.30 hrs.

Fee: LKR 6,000.- per legalization
