On 24 March 2012 H.E. Mr. Poldej Worachat, Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, attended the opening ceremony of the Uposathagaraya (chapter house for monks) and the Makara Thorana (gateway) at Walukaramaya Temple in Colombo. H. E. Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse, President of Sri Lanka, participated in the ceremony as the chief guest. Mr. A. J. M. Muzammil, Mayor of Colombo, was also present. The construction of the Uposathagaraya and the Makara Thorana was carried out with the Thai Buddhists’ contribution under the leadership of the Chief Incumbent of Indraraviharn Temple, Bangkok, who also graced the ceremony. Around 30 guests from Thailand also attended the ceremony.
