Royal Thai Embassy assists the Restoration of Ancient Ranwella Temple

            On 22 March 2013, at the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka, H.E. Mr. Poldej Worachat, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka, handed over a donation of 825,423.0 Sri Lankan Ruppe to Chief Incumbent of Ranwella Temple, Venerable Galagama Sugathawansa Thero for the restoration of the Temple. The event was organized in the presence of Honourable Professor G.L. Peiris, Sri Lankan External Affairs Minister, and Honourable Mr. Chanidma Weerakkody, Deputy Sepaker of Sri Lanka Parliament.

            Ranwella Temple in Kathaliwa, Ahangama was damaged by a fire in November 2012. The blaze damaged the printing machine gifted by King Mongkut of Thailand (Rama IV). This printing press had been used to print the first Sinhala newspaper; Lankalokaya
