The first Thai Festival in Colombo was organized last year with an aim to promoting culture, food and tourism in Thailand. This year, the Royal Thai Embassy first ever presented Thai contemporary dance to the Sri Lankan public by inviting the dance troupe called “Ek Kunchorn” group from Thailand to perform at the event. Moreover, the Royal Thai Embassy in cooperation with Tourism Authorities of Thailand, Mumbai Office, organized the demonstrations of Muay Thai (Thai boxing) and fruits carving at the Thai Festival 2015.
Prior to Thai Festival 2015, the Royal Thai Embassy arranged two workshops. The first workshop was on Muay Thai by inviting the 40 personnel from Sri Lankan Army, Navy, Air Force and Police to participate. The other workshop was on fruit carving by inviting the spouses of the heads of diplomatic missions in Colombo to join.
Since this year is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka, Thai Festival 2015 is part of the celebration of this auspicious occasion.
