Royal Thai Embassy supports the activities of Sri Lanka-Thailand Society
On 25 January 2018, H.E. Mrs.Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka, handed over a donation of 233,972.86 Sri Lankan Rupee from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to support the activities of the Sri-Lanka-Thailand Society, to Mrs. Nirmalie Gunatilake, President of the Society, during the Executive Committee’s Meeting.
Sri Lanka – Thailand Society was founded in 1997 (B.E.2540) by a group of Sri Lankan people, who are friends of Thailand. The objective of the Society is to promote people-to-people contacts between Thailand and Sri Lanka. The Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka serves as the patron of the Society. The Society has approximately 180 members, mostly Sri Lankan businessmen and retired senior officials. The Society has carried out various activities to strengthen Thai – Sri Lankan cultural relations such as the publication of articles on Sri Lanka -Thailand relations in the Sri Lanka – Thailand Society Journal, cultural activities such as Thai Night event as well as the religious ceremony in memory of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
