Donation of rice, dry food and consumer goods sponsored by Thai monks and Thai people for 50 Sri Lankan families in Henegama District, Western Province

 

On July 23, 2022, The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo represented by H.E. Mr. Poj Harnpol, Ambassador, and Mr. Peerapat Tongrod, First Secretary, participated in a handout event of the contribution of rice, dry food and consumer goods from Thai monks and Thai people for 50 Sri Lankan families in need at the Fa Kien Buddhist Cultural Center, Henegama District. The event was blessed by the presence of the Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnaratana Thero Mahanayaka of the Siam Nikaya Sangha, and others including Rev. Fr.W.P. Roshan Fernando and Venerable Piyaratana, a Sri Lankan monk from Thailand. The Ambassador made a remark that Thai government and the Thai people are deeply concerned about tough living conditions of Sri Lankan people and expressed his willingness to work with relevant agencies and the Thai people to provide further support to Sri Lanka in the future. He also reiterated the importance of working together to help people without religious and racial discrimination in order to promote solidarity in a multicultural society.
