On 12 August 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo organized a merit making ceremony on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother for the year 2019 at Sri Sambhodi Maha Viharaya Temple, Colombo. H.E. Chulamanee Chartsuwan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Sri Lanka, and Mr. Vichai Chartsuwan, Ambassador’s spouse, presided over the ceremony. The event was attended by about 35 participants, including officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, officials of the Thai Airways International, board members of the Sri Lanka – Thailand Society, and board members of the Sri Lanka - Thailand Business Council, and members of the Thai community. During the ceremony, 12 monks from Sri Sambhodi Maha Viharaya Temple and Jayasekararamaya Temple offered blessing to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Afterwards, participants offered dhana and alms to the 12 monks.

After the religious ceremony, the Embassy organized a Candle Lighting Ceremony to celebrate the auspicious occasion at the residence of the Ambassador. All participants to the religious ceremony in the morning attended this event in unison. In addition, the Embassy also opened a book for participants to write congratulatory messages. The book will remain opened at the chancery of the Embassy until 19 August 2019 (except on Embassy’s holiday).
