On 27 July 2012, H.E. Mr. Poldej Worachat, Ambassador of Thailand toSri Lanka, hosted a dinner in honour of Associate Professor Pornpen Hanthrakool who was invited by the Department of Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka to participate in the Makaranda Literary Festival 2012 as a special guest during 29-30 July 2012. The festival organizer arranged a study tour for Associate Professor Pornpen Hanthrakool to visitGalle, an important port town in the south ofSri Lanka, andAnuradhapura, an ancient historic city. While staying inSri Lanka, Associate Professor Pornpen Hanthrakool composed many pieces of poetry, one of which was composed during the poetry festival on the islet inBogodaLake, which is the largest natural lake inSri Lankain the suburb ofColombo. The poetry is as follows:

The sounds of crews resound around the islet.

The lake streams surround the little land.

The sun’s rays shine until they decline.

Still, the poets are waiting for words to write their poems.
