                   ASEAN Diplomatic Missions in Colombo (ADMC), comprised Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam jointly organized the Celebrations of  the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN at the premise of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, on the 8th August 2017 during 09.00-10.30 hrs.     

                   Mrs. Natnapang Damrongsoontornchai, Charge d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy, together with the ASEAN Diplomatic Missions in Colombo and their families, Ambassadors of Japan, South Korea, Russia, representatives from China, India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka also joined the Celebration.

                   The commemoration started with the welcoming remarks of H.E. Mr. Gusti Ngurah Ardiyasa, Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka, and the speech, on behalf of ASEAN Diplomatic Missions in Colombo, delivered by H.E. Mr. Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, High Commissioner of Malaysia, regarding the founding of ASEAN since the signing of Bangkok Declaration by the founding member countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand on  8th August 1967. The other countries in South East Asia, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia, joined the Association.

                   ASEAN has always been committed to strengthening political-security, economic and social cooperation to ensure peace and stability in the region, and to promote collaboration between ASEAN and international community and international organizations. Further, ASEAN has worked continuously to improve economic potentials with the market of 630 million peoples for mutual benefits and closer connectivity.      

                   After the remarks, the ASEAN flag was hoisted, followed by the reception with ASEAN food. The ceremony ended at 10.30 hours.
